Death of a blog

When I started this blog, I thought that it was an interesting way to get my ideas out onto the internet. My personal thoughts expressed on a multitude of topics, preserved in internet ink, however this isn't the case. To put it simple, Blogging isn't something that I could see myself continuing after this final entry. Blogging hasn’t given me the satisfaction that they glorify in movies, movies with girls with messy buns, glasses, pajamas, nuke warm coffee, and blogs that would make the writings of Jane Austen jealous. The satisfactions that I was looking for didn’t involve the messy buns or pajamas, but the writing to be so good that Stephen King tweets that he quits, because his future work couldn’t compare to my blogging brilliance.
I feel that I couldn’t come up with topics to write about, and when I did they were topics that I didn’t care to write about but had to because I couldn’t miss the entry date.  I felt like my original free writing was turning into forced writing, and it made the blogging experience as a whole very unenjoyable. Unenjoyable to where the idea to continue blogging doesn’t even pop into my head because my first experience was so unsatisfying. Will my feelings change in the future? That I am unsure of because much like my blog entries were unpredictable, so is the future but at this point I had come to the conclusion to end this blog and blogging all together.
I give a big thank you to anyone who took the time to take a look inside my brain while reading my blog, it does mean a lot that you did. For those who didn’t...eh I can’t really blame you. All good/bad things must come to an end sometime. That’s all for now.
Logging off.

Sincerely,
Me

I Owe it to Myself

Entry #10
“Until you value yourself, you won't value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it”. “The Road Less Traveled: A New Psychology of Love, Traditional Values, and Spiritual Growth” (Peck, 2016). Life is full of experiences, every second of everyday is an experience. Some experiences are good, some are bad, but what they have in common is that it will always shape you into a different person than you were. Weather it be simply riding a roller coaster or making that big decision to propose to that special someone, experience are the biggest part of life, which is an experience in itself.  My personal experience is both good and bad, bad because certain choices that were made aren't the choices i'm most proud of but good because they shaped me into the person that i am today. You will discover the reasons why I dropped out of school, my decisions to go back to school and continued to college, and how it affected my self concept and self esteem. No matter what you’ve done in your life, good or bad, just always remember that you’re not alone.
I was never good at school but my grades said otherwise. The thing with me was, I didn't mind being at school but getting there was the hardest part. I mean who wants to take a 30 minute bus ride when school feels like it's down the street. I was the girl who did a lot of interpersonal communication competence without realizing it. Meaning, I was able to communicate choosing the right type of communication skill that works best given the situation. I knew how to read people, understand them, like i could read their thoughts and knew what to say and when to say it. I was able to meet all different types of people because of this and it’s the reason why i befriended a very unique group of friends.
They were funky, maybe not in looks but in personality and style. They honestly were great people with bad habits and I managed to get myself into problems. When you’re younger, you’re on the hunt for fun at any means necessary, careless of the consequences. For me, it started simple with having lunch with them but soon lunch wasn't satisfying enough and we started ditching class by hiding in the school restroom. Eventually ditching one class became dull and boring so we began missing whole days. I even soon found myself attracted to one of the girls that i would spend time with and i know there is ALWAYS a girl but to me it wasn't a fairy tale attraction.  I would try to impress her listened to music she liked and would wear certain clothes she’d tend to comment on. Due to this attraction, I eventually developed a habit of smoking weed and drinking.
This habit started one day after school, at one of the friends house. When we arrived at their house everyone immediately went to the garage and gathered in a hippy circle,  as if it was a ritual. When it came time for me to take my hit from the pipe,  I accidently made the rookie mistake and blew out the weed in the pipe and was lucky to find it on the floor. Everyone laughed because of how inexperienced I was. In a matter of seconds the weed was gone and so was I.
“findings challenge commonly held notions that the age-related decrease in drug use disorders is attributable to an increase in persistence, and that the effects of role transitions are stronger during young, compared with middle and older, adulthood” says Vergés and other researchers. This process is called maturing out and that's what i did. It's not that i'm against smoking weed or drinking but after so many times of doing the same thing it gets boring and wasn't the same for me. It wasn't too long before i dropped out of school and ended staying home curled up in bed. I started to hate the world. Since I felt the only communication i had with the world was online, i went in search for a friend. Within that journey, I met a friend who we'll call Jenny. We became the best of friends, she showed me lots of cool stuff and whenever i needed her she was a call away. We were inseparable, she helped me get out of my funky blues i was in but then i met my boyfriend who we’ll casper because that was supposed to be his name until his parents settled on his name, true story.
Jenny didn’t like that. I'm not to sure why she didn't like Casper,  but she started to head her own way. She wouldn't text/call me that often and she was out of my life. Although Casper was probably the best thing that happen to me. He set high standards for me and I wasn't going to let him down, at least not yet. Casper inspired me to want to go back to high school, which i succeeded in doing until again dropping out. Some time went by and i finally came to the conclusion that if i wasn't going to graduate from high school, i would go and get my G.E.D. After two months of hard work and determination, i succeeded in obtaining my G.E.D. Obtaining my G.E.D made my heart melt, and i felt as if i had finally done something right for myself. After obtaining my G.E.D, i wanted to go to college. Little did I realize that it was going to be stressful but having anxiety i'm kind of used to it. Once I was “accepted” (I only say this because everyone gets accepted into community college) I was excited and it meant the world to me but then again, i'm easily impressed. I was expecting college to be a walk in the park but it feels like hurricane katrina. However, the feeling of going to college makes me so proud and keeps me busy all the time and i’m enjoying it. I feel like I owe that to myself.
“When I first started making music, I didn't really know what I was doing. I just wanted to write songs. I didn't have a concept. I didn't think it through. I was just flailing around doing what comes naturally. It took me a really long time to step back and deal with what I was doing with any kind of perspective or self-awareness” said Juliana Hatfield. I can relate to this quote because i was doing the same thing but I never realized it. All I wanted to do was something that made me happy and I was looking in the weirdest places but where i found my happiness was in education. Fast forward to today with only a week left of my first semester and i'm really calm about it, well that's what i keep saying to myself. Im slowly getting into the rhythm of who i am and what i want to do with my life. This life experience has brought me to hell and back but college helped form who i want to be and i'm finally excited for the future. I am 18 and ready to show the world what i can really do. Life is busy but i realize life doesn't stop for anyone so i might as well start moving or watch the world around me pass me by.
I think of my life as a garden, and each seed i plant is my life experiences. Regardless of what happens to me in life, i continue to care for it and at the end of it, i'll have an abundance of flowers to leave behind.

Peer Pressure at it's Finest

Entry #9

I never have been an analizer of media, i don’t pay attention to negative media or forms of media that doesn't interest me. I don’t perceive media in a strong way, a way that can be described. I either like or don’t like it, if it’s media i do like than it simply meets my interest, if it doesn't than i don’t pay attention to it. I think those than over analize are trying too hard to understand why they don’t like something, like their needs to be a greater reason for them not liking it. This is because of the way that society seems to be heading, a non different community, where it’s better to fit in than be different. Peer pressure to like everything that others like to avoid being different. The vast amount of  different types of media influence this type of society, media has become the biggest influence on the way in which society acts and thinks. For example, when I was in elementary school I hated rap music, however because I wanted people to like me and not appear different I listened to rap music even though I knew I didn't like it. Music is a form of media, and they way in which it influence those around me conditioned them that rap music was the new leader in music and those who didn’t listen to rap we’re different, not cool, pressuring me to listen to music he didn’t like to avoid being outcasted, the media had won. Media is the largest influencer in society and it’s for the worst, not the best.

Hashtag Hashtag

Entry #7
I never really cared for hashtags until my boyfriend became one #TattooForPhilip. He is now known as the guy who tattooed the T-Mobile tattoo logo on his arm. It started as a joke by my boyfriend posting “Hook me up with a iPhone 8 and ill tattoo the T-Mobile logo on my arm for all to see, you have my word @JohnLegere” but ended up a little too serious when the CEO of tmobile tweeted back to my boyfriend. John Legere said “Sounds like a deal! Prove it! #TattooForPhilip” and that’s when John, himself, created the hashtag. My boyfriend woke me up from my slumber and said we HAD to go out @1AM to go look for a tattoo parlor, so there we were driving around looking for an hour. We found NOTHING, so we headed home but he was determined to get that free iphone. At this point my boyfriend messages his friend and he couldn’t do the tattoo, bummer right? My boyfriend’s friend came to the rescue with his lady friend and there we went the next day. Not knowing who this girl was, how her tattoo work was or her name. We did introductions and then the magic began. For the next hour, my boyfriend got his tattoo and i played with the artist dog. That entire time my boyfriend kept asking “are you taking pictures of this? Are you documenting this?”. And of course, I was documenting, 70% of the time. As I take pictures of this journey my boyfriend is keeping everyone in the loop and tweeted this “A deals a deal @JohnLegere, and the deed is done. I gave you my word, I'm forever representing team magenta #TattooForPhilip”. With that followed a response of John stating “Whoa. Nice tattoo!! Let's get you that iPhone!! @tmobilehelp will grab your info! #TattooForPhilip”. Not even a week goes by and he got a package with some T-mobile merch and his phone. Talking about a good day?! And to top it off my boyfriend got asked to be on local news and got contacted by a couple of people for questions. Til this day people ask him about his tattoo and get recognized by people.

A Cry For Help?

Entry #8
Our northern neighbors that have some pretty unfortunate and rather strange differences than the U.S. To me, canadians deserve the same as us, in the terms of goods and services. It doesn't seem like canada is going through a mass panic, but maybe underwraps is where we find that panic. An outcry of angry canadian citizens that maybe just want someone to listen to their voices.
Believe it or not, and no this isn't ripley's, Canada has had a ban on Frito Lay’s Flamin Hot Cheetos. Yes, the widely popular, mouth burning, finger staining loved snack that have been enjoyed by millions since being introduced in 1992. The canadian government however did want any part of the Flaming Hot Cheeto craze and in 2012, extinguished the fiery blaze with a ban. The reason, Flaming Hot Cheetos aren't healthy for you, being that Flaming Hot Cheetos offer no nutritional value. A small bag of Flamin Hot Cheetos has 200 calories, 14 grams of fat, 310 milligrams of sodium, and 19 grams of carbs, offering no vitamin’s value except for 4% of iron.
Though that's a given when it comes to snack foods like candy, chips, and other grab and go snack items the second reason for the canadian ban on Flamin Hot Cheetos will blow your mind,  hyperpalatable foods (sweet, salty, fatty) can prompt similar brain responses as those observed in individuals addicted to alcohol and drugs. So compulsive eating of snacks like these Flamin' Hot Cheetos will make your brain go as wacky as if you were a cocaine user ("Flamin' Hot Cheetos issue," n.d.). That’s right, the canadian government is comparing a corn snack to hard core Tony Montana cocaine. Which is as ridiculous as comparing bee stings to childbirth. For these reasons, Flamin Hot Cheetos need to be imported back to canada because Canadians have the right to eat the snacks that they choose to eat. When it comes to nutrition, a person has a right to consume whatever the desire, if it doesn't affect anyone or cause others harm. Why is it an issue? Importing this product into Canada will benefit those Canadian citizens that are craving for this fiery snack, and will demonstrate that people have a right to freedom of choice and bias generalizations should not be what decides what's banned and not banned.
The three major issues that face the importation of Flamin Hot Cheetos to Canada are convincing the citizens of Canada that are for the ban of Flamin Hot Cheetos why the product should be unbanned, convincing the canadian government to unban Flamin Hot Cheetos, and supplying enough Flamin Hot Cheetos for the citizens of Canada.
Convincing the citizens of canada that are for the ban of Flamin Hot Cheetos why the product should be unbanned and convincing the canadian government to unban Flamin Hot Cheetos are the first two issue that i’ll face. I understand that a great amount of citizens of Canada are for this ban of Flamin Hot Cheetos. Parents, Teachers, Health Nuts, and the Canadian government are all for the ban, and my job would be convincing them that Flamin Hot Cheetos aren't the enemy. When it comes to poor nutrition and addiction, the chips aren't too blame. The person eating the chips are the problem, If someone has a very poor diet, that is their choice because they choose what to eat. If what they decide to eat causes them to have a mentale addiction to them, then that is there problem that they are going to have to deal with. Doe’s it make them a bad person for being addicted to a corn chip? No, it doesn't and it doesn't affect those who disapprove because they aren't causing anyone harm. If they begin to rob people or banks to fuel their Flamin Hot Cheeto addiction, then yes, it is a problem but we know it will never come to that. They simply just like the chip, it may be their favorite and that is why they eat it alot. 83% of the word is addicted to coffee, but we don’t have a ban on it. The canadian government and those canadian citizens need to understand that, and allow these chips back into their country.
Supplying enough Flamin Hot Cheetos for the citizens of Canada would be my final issue importing Flamin Hot Cheetos in to Canada. If I get over my first two hurdles and the citizens and government is on board for ending this ban, the demand for Flamin Hot Cheetos is going to be through the roof. I would have to insure that Frito Lay would meet the demand for those Flamin Hot Cheeto loving Canadians. Stores could not be empty, there would be no backorder, everyone who wants them will be able to get them. This Flaming Hot Cheeto Canadian fans would have been waiting for the day that this ban would end, and i wouldn't disappoint their demand for the chips they love.

You Get What You Work For

Entry #7
If you’ve haven't seen Capitalism: A Love Story by Michael Moore it’s about Capitalism and how it affects business’ and everyday people. My initial reaction was confusion, I know NOTHING about capitalism and how it works. Politics are a foreign language to me. It takes the system of capitalism and breaks it down into simple, average joe understanding. I find the whole film pointless, a shameful way of attempting to persuade people to believe in a broken system. Capitalism is a jackass way of living and Moore being the hack that he is would be someone who believes in capitalism. Anyone who believes in a system where everyone is the same financially is an ass hat. The money that you deserve is that money that you work for, if someone wants to work and McDonald for the rest of their life then they are more than welcome to. If that job supports them and their family, then more power to them. However, the person who works at McDonald's doesn't deserve the same as a doctor, the doctor payed money to go to college for seven years and has earned the large amount that the are paid. The McDonald's worker did not do more than fill out a job application for the wage that they deserve. I’m a college student and i'm working my fingers to the bone so that someday i will get a return on my investment, friends of mine are working normal day to day jobs and not doing anything with their lives. They deserve to be payed as much as me in the future? Yeah right.

We all NEED a Higher Education

Blog entry #5

Image result for doug duceyDoug Ducey is the Governor for Arizona who represents the Republican party and is partnered with Achieve60AZ to increase Arizonans graduate rate.
(“Office of the Arizona Governor Doug Ducey.” Office of the Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, azgovernor.gov/.)
In order to do this they’re putting more money into the education system (Ducey, Gov. Doug. “Ducey: Why Arizona needs more college grads.”Azcentral, The Republic | azcentral.Com, 17 Sept. 2016, www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/2016/09/17/arizona-needs-more-college-grads-ducey/90363958/). This was addressed to parents, teachers and citizens who want to improve their living. From the perspective of an Arizonian who cares about the community.  By having more graduates it allows more contributors to society. The reason to write this is to inform readers that SOMEONE is trying to help better our education system and by increasing our graduation rates it helps the city improve.

As a student, I’m all for having more money into our education and to have our graduate rate go up would be FANTASTIC! I know that Arizona is one of the states that has low grading scores and it’s not getting better. So if we can have more members of society contribute to taxes and be more of a community by growing together. Sense of growth by creating jobs, getting paid more and simply having people who care enough about themselves to have a certificate.
